Canned Food Drive

Howard Elementary School is now collecting cans for the Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee. The items most needed include; pasta, canned veggies and fruits, peanut butter and canned meat.

Drug Free is the Key

This is the theme for Drug Free week, this week October 29th-November 2nd.  Drug Free Week is the largest drug prevention campaign that is celebrated across the country. It is a campaign that serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children, through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives, with the ultimate goal, being the creation of drug free America.

By being a prevention partner Howard Elementary and many other surrounding schools sets activities throughout this week in order to grasp the attention of our students by making it fun with a positive message for all sorts of drug situations. All week long we will be celebrating with school spirit, making each day unique;

• Monday- I'm too Bright for Drugs...wear bright colors
• Tuesday- Sock it to Drugs...wear crazy socks
• Wednesday- Say BOO to Drugs...wear a Halloween shirt(no costumes)
• Thursday- Wear RED
• Friday- Put a Cap on Drugs...wear your favorite hat

Stand up and take a pledge with your children!

PTO Needs Your Help

In Planning for our Fall fest next week on November 8th, we have joined together with H.G. Hills who have been generous enough to donate our dinner that night.

YAY!!! We are truly thankful!!

But here is where we need your help....Serving the delicious dinner. We need several Volunteers to help us serve other parents and guests. If you are interested or have any other ideas for this need please contact Howard PTO at howardpto@gmail.com

Important Information!!

Parents some important information should have come home with your child/children this week regarding Common Core State Standards and an email submission form. 

If you did not recieve any of these letters please contact the office Monday morning so they can make sure this information gets to you.

This week as we are all preparing for Halloween and gathering treats for our little ghosts and goblins, we want to share with you the Howard PTO Halloween board. This board is loaded with some fantastic ideas form decorating your home to fun filled science experiments.

1st Competition Ends

Just a reminder; Tomorrow is the last day to turn in your Box Tops for the first competition of 2012/2013 school year.

The winners of this competition will be the first to receive a popcorn party.

The next end dates will be in January and April.

Donations for Class Baskets

Don't forget tomorrow is the last day to send in your donations for your classroom baskets.

These baskets will be auctioned off at our silent auction during our Fall Festival on Thursday night November the 8th.

Happy Fall Ya'll

I LOVE this time of the year! It's as if mother nature changes her color pallet and starts painting on a brand new canvas.

From the color change in the leaves to the falling of orange from the sky. The long hot days end and the shorter cool days begin. Which means we need be sure to send our children to school with jackets because, they will continue to play outside as long as the weather permits.

Also, coats and jackets can occasionally get left on the playground so be sure to have your child's name printed on the inside of their jackets so that they can be retrieved.
